WHAT WE OFFER AT Apex Med Solutions

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS

Medicare Advantage plans, also known as Part C or MA plans, are a private insurance option that offers an alternative to Original Medicare. They are offered by private companies that are approved by Medicare and must follow Medicare's rules.

Here are some things to know about Medicare Advantage plans:

  • Coverage: Medicare Advantage plans cover Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance), and most also include Part D (Medicare prescription drug coverage).
  • Extra benefits: Some plans may offer additional coverage, such as dental, vision, hearing, and health and wellness programs.
  • Cost: Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.
  • Network: Most plans require you to use doctors and other providers who are in the plan's network.
  • Annual contracts: Medicare Advantage plans are annual contracts, and plans may change benefits, increase premiums, and increase copayments at the start of each year.
  • Plan restrictions: You may need to get prior authorization for certain tests or procedures, and you may need a referral from your primary care physician to see a specialist.
  • Plan availability: Medicare Advantage plan availability varies by location.

MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLANS

Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is a health insurance policy that helps pay for healthcare costs not covered by Original Medicare. Medigap plans are offered by private insurance companies and are standardized by letter, with plans A–N in most states. The only difference between policies with the same letter is price.

Here are some things to know about Medigap plans:

  • Eligibility To buy a Medigap policy, you must generally have Medicare Part A and Part B.
  • Cost You pay a monthly premium to the Medigap insurance company in addition to your monthly Part B premium to Medicare.
  • Renewal As long as you pay your premium, your Medigap policy is guaranteed renewable, meaning it automatically renews each year.
  • Open enrollment You can apply for a Medigap plan at any time, but you have a 6-month open enrollment period when you can buy any policy offered in your state.
  • Coverage Medigap plans generally don't cover long-term care, vision or dental care, hearing aids, eyeglasses, or private-duty nursing.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLANS

Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) are stand-alone plans that provide prescription drug coverage through private insurance companies. PDPs are an option for people who are entitled to Original Medicare Part A and/or enrolled in Medicare Part B.

Here are some things to know about Medicare Part D PDPs:

  • Coverage PDPs are required to cover certain common types of drugs, but plans vary by location and provider. Each plan has a list of specific drugs it covers, known as a formulary.
  • Enrollment You can enroll in a PDP when you turn 65 or during Open Enrollment.
  • Cost You can pay for your Part D IRMAA directly to Medicare, even if your employer or a third party pays for your plan premiums.
  • Alternatives You can also choose to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, which provides all Medicare-covered benefits, including prescription drugs.
  • Extra Help You may qualify for Extra Help, a program that helps those with limited resources pay for their Medicare prescription drug costs.
